KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Here the body of a 50-year-old man was found on top of an elevator car in Cheras.

Cheras District Police Chief, ACP, Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon, said in a statement that the police had received a call via the MERS 999 line around 1.20am on Wednesday (September 2).

“We were informed that a man had fallen down an elevator shaft and landed on top of an elevator car on the floors of Sri Awam Public Housing here.

“Upon arriving at the scene, we found a body face down on top of the (elevator) car,” he said.

Mohd Mokhsein said the floor’s elevator maintenance company had received a complaint that one of the elevators was not working.

“When a worker arrived 30 minutes later, he found the body face down,” he said, adding that the deceased had a swelling on his face, believed to be from the impact of a fall.

Mohd Mokhsein said preliminary investigations found that the victim was a resident of the flat and was unemployed.

The victim’s remains were taken to Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM Hospital for a post-mortem examination, adding that the case has been classified as sudden death. – Bernama
