KUALA LUMPUR: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has criticized Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan (YWP) for allegedly threatening to sue its chairman Wong Kah Woh.

According to Wong, the committee unanimously considers YWP’s statement (suing Wong) as totally unjustified and an attempt to challenge and desecrate the institution of Parliament.

“Any accusation or threat to the PAC or its members, in relation to matters under investigation or reports presented, is a clear attempt to interfere with the powers of Parliament,” Wong said in the Parliament’s media center on Thursday (November 19) .

On Wednesday (November 18), YWP Chief Legal Officer Mohd Fadzil Ab Hamid said the foundation is considering taking legal action against Wong for his statement issued a day earlier on behalf of the PAC after completing its investigation into 97 deals. of land by the city of Kuala Lumpur. Hall (DBKL) since 2011.

The findings showed a conflict of interest in the management of YWP and it was recommended that the foundation become a statutory body.

The PAC said there were dangers of abuse of power as the minister for Federal Territories and the mayor of Kuala Lumpur held the positions of president and trustees at YWP, which had land deals with DBKL.

YWP is linked to the Rimba Kiara project.
