PUTRAJAYA: Two locations in Ipoh will be placed under an enhanced movement control order starting Friday (November 20) following a spike in Covid-19 cases, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The locations are Zone B and Zone C at Taman Meru 2C in Ipoh.

He said that 16,938 tests were conducted in November and there were 76 positive results.

“Following the advice of the Ministry of Health, the special meeting of the National Security Council agreed to place the two towns in Ipoh under an improved MCO for 14 days until December 3,” it said on Wednesday (November 18).

The closure will involve a total of 2,288 inhabitants and 572 homes in the two locations.

Ismail said health authorities will screen residents and those who test positive will be taken to hospital for treatment.

He said the existing standard operating procedure for an upgraded MCO, which includes not allowing movement in and out of the area without permission from the police, is in effect.

There will also be no social and economic activities while the place is closed and food will be distributed to affected residents.
