DAP representative confirms that he has to pay compound for breaching SOP

KUANTAN: Ketari State Assemblywoman Young Syefura Othman said today that she was recently ordered to resolve a complex for violating the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Conditional Motion Control Order (CMCO) in Selangor.

The young Syefura said that she would pay for the complex soon and that the police informed her that the case against her was considered resolved.

“I apologize for violating the CMCO SOP, which to some extent affected the Pahang state assembly session. I also apologize to all Pahang people for the mistake, ”he said while debating the Supply Bill (Budget 2021) presented by Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail at Wisma Sri Pahang here.

Young Syefura was previously criticized for uploading a photo of herself and four friends celebrating her birthday on Bagan Lalang beach, Selangor, on Instagram, which was later removed from the social media platform.

Selangor is among the states included in the CMCO until Dec. 6, and travel to the state is prohibited without major business during the period.

During their debate, Young Syefura questioned whether the data presented to the Pahang state assembly regarding forest land, i.e. 2.05 million hectares or 57% of the state’s total 3.59 million area, were accurate.

“I checked and found that the total forest area has not changed since 2017. Could it be so, when in fact, forest yield is a contributing factor to state government revenue and the amount has been increasing?” He said.

Meanwhile, Bilut Assemblyman Lee Chin Chen proposed that property assessments and taxes for hotel, homestay and restaurant operators be exempted for three years, while license fees for street vendors who lacked Customers due to the Covid-19 pandemic should also be exempted.

Lee said that farmers should also receive special attention because some of them suffered losses when they were unable to collect agricultural products or sell their crops during the implementation of the MCO.

“I propose that a registration session be held for the provision of assistance such as subsidies for fertilizers and pesticides based on land area, thus easing the burden on farmers,” he said.
