PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Siong has ignored allegations by Seremban MP Anthony Loke in Parliament that he outsourced the Klang Valley Double Tracking Phase 2 (KVDT2) project to a China-based company.

He said the accusations were unfounded and added that his conscience was clear.

Although the transport minister did not want to comment on the matter in depth because the matter is now pending in court, Dr. Wee said he had received the affidavit and was advised to clear his name in private to prevent the case from becoming politicized. .

“However, I expected the company to go through different channels, including politicians, to sensationalize the matter.

“Therefore, I had informed the Cabinet on November 6 on this issue and the officer who was with me at the meeting with the company has filed a police report to flatly deny the defamatory accusations made by the company.

“My conscience is clear and I have nothing to fear,” he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (November 17).

Dr. Wee was responding to Loke’s allegations that he had asked Dhaya Maju-LTAT Sdn Bhd (DM-LTAT) to outsource the KVDT2 project to a company in China.

It was reported that while debating the 2021 Budget Bill in Parliament, Loke questioned the government’s motive for canceling the contract with DM-LTAT, as the government would have to shell out RM1bil in an agreement with the company, which has already started. a civil lawsuit against them.

Loke, who was Minister of Transportation under the Pakatan Harapan administration, also read an excerpt from an affidavit from DM-LTAT CEO Datuk Mohamed Razeek Hussain Maricar.

The affidavit was filed last month in Kuala Lumpur High Court, in which he alleged that Dr. Wee asked him to outsource the project to a China-based company.

Loke also said that if the allegations were directed against Pakatan leaders, they would be labeled as selling the country’s interest to China and denying bumiputra contractors opportunities.

Dr Wee, who is recovering after spinal surgery, said he would address the unsubstantiated allegations of the contract termination allegedly affecting bumiputra contractors and the interest of Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT) once he discharge from the hospital.

Ayer’s deputy Hitam also launched questions to Loke, asking him if he had forgotten that he had informed the cabinet in September 2018 that the KVDT2 project could cost less if carried out through open tender and that KTM Bhd had written to the Ministries of Transport and Finance. to Express concern about having DM-LTAT as the project contractor.
