Higher KLCI, driven by rising bank accountants share price

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 16): Bursa Malaysia remained in positive territory mid-afternoon, supported by continued shopping momentum at select consumer products and financial services counters, dealers said.

At 3.01pm, the benchmark FBM KLCI added 3.53 points to 1,593.22 after opening 3.66 points higher at 1,593.35.

In the broader market, the winners outnumbered the losers by 698 to 549, while 359 accountants remained unchanged, 558 untraded, and another 19 suspended.

The total volume stood at 11.22 billion shares worth RM4.29 billion.

Among heavyweights, Malaya Banking Bhd rose 13 sen to RM8.06, Public Bank Bhd rose 58 sen to RM18.34, while Tenaga Nasional Bhd fell 20 sen to RM11.12, Top Glove Corp Bhd lost 51 sen to RM7. 27 and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd lost eight sen to RM6.70.

Of the assets, AT Systematization Bhd added one sen to 26.5 sen, Metronic Global Bhd rose 2.5 sen to 19.5 sen, Nexgram Holdings Bhd gained half a sen to 6.5 sen while Lambo Group Bhd held stable at 4.5 sen.

On the index board, FBM ACE increased 188.91 points to 11,413.66, the FBM Emas index improved 35.04 points to 11,445.03, the FBMT 100 index increased 30.62 points to 11,234.66, and the FBM 70 gained 62.68 points to 14,685.66.

Meanwhile, the FBM Emas Shariah index fell 140.04 points to 13,186.99.

The industrial products and services index dropped 0.08 points to 156.44, the plantations index fell 39.07 points to 7,265.13, while the financial services index advanced 419.65 points to 13,987.66.
