KUALA LUMPUR: A man who got angry and slapped a Starbuck employee after being reprimanded for smoking in a public place was fined 1,000 RM, in three months in jail by default, by the Magistrates Court here today for hurting the employee.
Judge Mohamed Fared Abdul Latif fined Mitchel Glend Samson, 27, after he pleaded guilty to one count of voluntarily wounding Nur Hanisah Abu Hasan, 23, in front of the Starbucks store in Plaza Berjaya, Jalan Imbi, here at 3:20 PM on November 13.
During mitigation, Samson told the court that he scanned the MySejahtera application at the store, but was not allowed to enter the facility due to its “high risk” status, and sat on the side of the Starbuck store while I was waiting for a friend. to buy him coffee.
“The Starbucks employee came up to me and reprimanded me for smoking.
“I admit I was wrong to raise my hand to her. I apologize and seek a lenient sentence because I have a family in Sabah to support, ”he said.
