KUALA LUMPUR: Failure to maintain physical distancing is the highest number of crimes committed in violation of the recovery movement control order (MCO) on Saturday (November 14), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Chief Minister (Security) said that among the other crimes were participating in activities in entertainment venues and not wearing face masks.

“Compounds were delivered to 516 people, while another 49 were arrested and three received police bail on Saturday.

“The compliance operations task force conducted 51,245 checks across the country, including 3,547 supermarkets, 4,815 restaurants and 3,240 banks,” it said in a statement on Sunday (November 15).

In Ops Benteng, 42 undocumented immigrants were detained on Saturday, he added.

“A total of 250 roadblocks were made nationwide. The authorities will take severe action against anyone who tries to enter the country illegally,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said 67,555 people have returned to Malaysia since July 24.

“A total of 9,488 people are still in mandatory quarantine in 67 hotels and 20 public training institutes. A total of 388 people were sent to hospitals for treatment, while 57,679 have been discharged and allowed to return home. “he added.

On public sanitation operations, Ismail Sabri said 11,444 operations have been carried out since March 30.

“It involved 13,758 locals in 130 zones,” he said.

On the supply of basic necessities, Ismail Sabri said that the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Affairs carried out 687 checks on 12 types of articles on Saturday.

“The supply of necessities is sufficient and easy to obtain. We hope that people always practice physical distancing and good hygiene, especially when buying basic necessities,” he added.
