PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Health has reported 1,114 cases of Covid-19 and two deaths in the last 24 hours.
Chief Health Officer Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 803 recoveries, bringing the total number of discharged to 33,772.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the 1,114 cases bring the total number of infections in the country to 46,209.
There are currently 12,131 patients in treatment. One hundred and three are in the intensive care unit and 43 require respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the two deaths bring the balance to 306.
The deceased were a Malaysian man, 51, and a woman, 78, who died at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
The man had high blood pressure, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease, and the woman also suffered from osteoarthritis.
Today there were two imported cases, involving a Malaysian and a foreigner who entered the country from Indonesia and Jordan.
Sabah accounted for the most new cases with 391, followed by Negeri Sembilan with 371. The Klang Valley recorded 217 cases, with 199 in Selangor, 13 in Kuala Lumpur and four in Putrajaya.
These cases were detected in new and existing groups, as well as in close contact and detection of Covid-19.
Perak reported 53 new cases, 49 of which came from existing groups, three from other screenings, and one from a severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) screening.
There were 34 cases in Penang, 14 in Johor, 10 in Kedah, eight in Labuan, six in Melaka, five in Kelantan and three in Sarawak.
These cases come from new and existing groups, close contact tests, and other Covid-19 screening tests.
