PETALING JAYA: Residents of Medan 88 in Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi who have gone missing should come forward and get a free Covid-19 test from the Ministry of Health, says Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah.
“We are advising you to come forward for an evaluation because the evaluation that the ministry will provide is free.
“But if they undergo an assessment themselves, they may have to pay at least RM300,” the Health Director-General said at a daily press conference on Thursday (November 12).
Dr. Noor Hisham added that authorities could not prematurely announce whether an area would be placed under an enhanced movement control order (MCO), as there was a risk that some residents would leave the area.
“However, the announcement was made (in advance) because there may be people staying in hotels who can be trapped there for 14 days,” he said.
He was answering a question as to why authorities recently decided to first announce the areas to be placed under improved OLS before proper chain-link fencing was put in place.
He noted that the area had many foreign workers and he suspected that residents who had fled the area were illegal immigrants.
“This is the group that concerns us. But whatever it is, we are tracking them and we advise them to come forward, “he said.
Earlier on Thursday, the Sepang District Disaster Management Committee said it would seek the help of the police in detecting 400 residents who did not return home after receiving information that barbed wire would be installed in the area during the deployment. of the improved OLS.
