Proton Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Website Launched – 201 Point Verification, Free Service, New Battery, 1 Year Warranty

Proton today launched its Certified Used Vehicle website, which offers customers a convenient way to shop for used cars online. The Proton Certified Used (PCPO) website allows customers to browse through used car stock that is available at 36 dealerships across the country, as well as trade in their existing vehicles for deals on a new Proton model.

In addition to helping drive new vehicle sales, the goal of Proton’s used vehicle management division is to help stabilize and gradually build the residual values of Proton vehicles, said Roslan Abdullah, CEO of Proton Edar. “By offering high-quality used cars, we expect to see an overall increase in prices for all of our models, making it easier for the customer to obtain competitive financing rates and increasing trade-in values,” he said.

To qualify for the PCPO program, cars must be less than seven years old and have traveled less than 130,000 km of mileage at the time of exchange. These cars also must not have suffered flooding or major damage from accidents that could affect structural integrity, Proton said.

The 36 participating Proton outlets are required to meet the qualification criteria, both physical and financial, and agree to take the necessary steps to prepare the exchange stock for sale. Every car undergoes a 201-point check and is given a new battery, as well as new motor oil and a new oil filter.

All Proton vehicles sold through the PCPO program receive an extended one-year engine and transmission warranty, along with a free service that is redeemable for up to six months from the date of registration, Roslan said.

Proton will also sell third-party vehicles that have been marketed through the PCPO website. Although these vehicles will not receive the extended warranty, they will still be thoroughly inspected and repaired if necessary, before they are put up for sale, he added.

The sales increases achieved by Proton in 2019 made clear that an efficient means of processing customers’ units of exchange was key to maintaining its growth rate, the company said. Proton then established its used car management division, which was tasked with growing a dealer network to sell used cars alongside their new units. This went from the initial pilot project of eight Proton outlets to its current network of 36.
