In total, there are 27 retailers involved in the PS5 pre-order program in Malaysia. Most of them are well known game stores like Impulse Gaming, Heavy Arm, CK Multimedia System, Mission World, and Gamer’s Hideout. Joining them are general computer retailers All IT Hypermarket and Pineapple Computer System, as well as the top two Sony stores and the select Sony Center nationwide.

Based on our observations, retailers are free to set their own booking method, but generally it can be done primarily online or by physically visiting those retailers. Sony Malaysia itself started accepting PS5 pre-orders through its online store and the assignments were apparently snatched up in just minutes:

At the Sony Store and Sony Center in Malaysia, customers are already queuing in the early hours of the morning. According to Sony Center IOI City Mall in Putrajaya, the first person in line was there around 3 am

Meanwhile, one of the administrators of [PS4 Malaysia] Facebook group Izzroy Isahak shared with us that the queue at Sony Store Suria KLCC had already formed by the time he arrived at 6:30 a.m. When the store opened at 10:00 a.m., his staff then handed out queue cards to those who were in line.

Izzroy also pointed out that each customer was only allowed to reserve one PS5 and one PS5 accessory at the Sony Store Suria KLCC this morning. Also, this morning’s pre-order stock consisted of just 116 PS5s with Blu-ray disc and 20 PS5 Digital Editions.

Another player, More “Turmeric grasshopper” Abdul Hair managed to pre-order even though he got in line after 8:00 a.m. By then the line has expanded to other nearby stores.

Meanwhile, the price of PS5 with Blu-ray disc drive and PS5 Digital Edition turned out not to be too far from other Asian markets. Check out our report right here if you want to see how PS5 prices in Malaysia fare against other markets around the world.
