KUALA LUMPUR: The Chief Minister of Security, Ismail Sabri Yaakob, has clarified that the passengers of the vehicles can sit in front of the drivers.

This comes after a viral video was spread on social media of a man claiming that the police had fined him because his wife had sat next to him in the car.

However, Ismail said that the accusations contained in the video were false as the man had been fined for using his phone while driving.

“Yesterday’s case was a malicious act on the part of the driver, because when I received the video and contacted Bukit Aman to ask him why he had been fined, they said that the video was intended to cloud the police. He was fined not because his wife was sitting next to him, but because he was using his phone while driving. “

He added that he had asked the police to take action on the false accusation, adding that there were many false posts on social media.

Meanwhile, Ismail said police arrested 536 people yesterday for disobeying various SOPs.

Of this number, 527 people received compounds, eight were arrested and one received bail.

Among his crimes are: disobeying the rules of physical distancing (153); not wearing masks (134); not preparing the equipment or registering the personal data of the clients (107); interstate or interdistrict travel without police permission (40); operate beyond the allowed opening times (37); activities in leisure venues (8) and others (57).
