The water supply in the Klang Valley will be fully restored on Friday

Operations at the Sungai Selangor water treatment plants and the Rantau Panjang plant have been fully resumed since this morning.

PETALING JAYA: The water supply in the Klang Valley will be fully restored by 3pm on Friday, and some areas are expected to have their taps working again by tomorrow afternoon, Air Selangor said today.

He said the Sungai Selangor (LRA) Phase 1, 2 and 3 water treatment plants and the Rantau Panjang plant had fully resumed operations since 2.40 am this morning, with no odor contamination detected.

“The water supply will be redistributed to some areas ahead of schedule, as the distribution system has restarted smoothly,” Air Selangor said in a statement.

“The process of restoring the water supply is divided into two groups, with the first group involving 599 areas scheduled for the water supply to be fully restored at 3pm tomorrow.

“The second group, involving 680 areas, will have their water supply restored at 3pm on Friday.”

Meanwhile, Air Selangor expressed disappointment over frequent pollution incidents that have caused unscheduled water outages with numerous water plants forced to close.

“We fully support the authorities’ efforts to curb environmental crime so that our rivers can be kept clean. We believe that the relevant authorities have fulfilled their duties to resolve the matter.

“We remain committed to ensuring that Air Selangor users can receive their water supply according to the schedule we have prepared,” he said.

Four people have been arrested for the latest contamination of Sungai Selangor, which forced 1,139,008 households in 1,279 areas in the Klang Valley to run out of water since last night.

There have been a total of six unscheduled water outages caused by pollution this year, with water treatment plant closures on March 17, April 16, September 3, October 4, October 19 and November 10. .

Meanwhile, the burst pipes had also caused unscheduled water outages on February 7, May 5, June 3, June 11, July 21, August 6, September 16, October 14, and October 16. .
