Even though it was updated earlier this year, that doesn’t stop Apple to do the 13 inch Macbook Pro as one of the debut models of its new M1 chip. Along with the MacBook Air and Mac mini, these three new M1-based Mac products are on their way to Malaysia.

According to Apple, the M1-based 13-inch MacBook Pro offers up to 2.8 times faster CPU performance compared to its predecessor. The 8-core GPU inside the chip also provides up to 5 times faster graphics performance, while the chip can also process machine learning related tasks up to 11 times faster with the help of its 16-core neural engine.

On the other hand, the image signal processor inside the M1 also helped improve the image output from the MacBook Pro’s FaceTime HD camera. Apple has also included a studio-quality three-microphone array in the laptop, as well as support for USB 4 on its two USB-C Thunderbolt ports.

Since the M1 also focused on energy efficiency, this led to increased battery life in the new model. For comparison, the M1-based 13-inch MacBook Pro can last up to 17 hours of web browsing and 20 hours of Apple TV app movie playback, while the Intel-based model can only last up to 10 hours in both scenarios.

Despite this, the company has kept the same starting price of RM 5599 for the new M1-based 13-inch MacBook Pro with 256GB SSD and RM 6399 for the 512GB variant. However, it is not available for sale in Malaysia yet, which is something we’ll keep you posted once Apple has updated the arrival status.
