No need to scan MySejahtera while refueling

The Crisis Response and Preparedness Center says “short encounters” like filling up gas or making a payment do not need the MySejahtera scan.

PETALING JAYA: The Crisis Preparedness and Response Center (CPRC) has clarified that it is not necessary to register with the MySejahtera app when filling up gas, following yesterday’s reports that people could be fined for not doing so.

In an email response to a public inquiry by FMT, the CPRC said the requirement to scan the app’s QR code is for when people enter a facility.

“Brief encounters, such as filling gas at pump stations or making payments, do not require MySejahtera scanning,” the email read.

An official from the National Security Council (MKN) confirmed the matter with FMT.

Bukit Aman’s Deputy CID Director Mior Faridalathrash Wahid had been quoted by various media outlets as saying that people still had to scan the app even if they did not enter a gas station convenience store.

This follows a viral audio clip of a man who alleges that his father was fined 1,000 RM because he failed to register on the app while refueling.
