PETALING JAYA: Pahang Assemblywoman Young Syefura Othman apologized after criticism on social media accusing her of violating movement restrictions by going to the beach.

She said she was prepared to be investigated by authorities for her actions.

Young Syefura, who is with the DAP, had posted a photo of herself with four other people at the Avani Sepang Gold Coast Resort in Selangor.

They were criticized for not observing social distancing and for not wearing facial markings.

Selangor is under a conditional motion control order until December 6, following a spike in Covid-19 cases.

The young Syefura said on Twitter that she will not use her status as a member of the assembly for Ketari, Pahang, to move in Selangor where she lives.

“I am prepared to be investigated by the authorities if I violated any SOP,” she wrote.

Graphic designer and activist Fahmi Reza had shared a screenshot of Young Syefura’s photo at the beach and a tweet advising the public to practice social distancing and wear face masks so as not to deny the efforts of the avant-garde.

Many of Fahmi’s followers criticized her and expressed their disappointment.
