Schools across the country to close starting tomorrow

PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Education (MOE) announced today that schools across the country will be closed until the last day of this year’s school session.

Minister of Education Dr. Radzi Jidin (pix) He said that for schools in Kedah, Johor, Kelantan and Terengganu, the last day of school is December 17, while in other states it is December 18.

He said the decision to close the schools was made after the implementation of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in all the states of the peninsula, except Kelantan, Pahang and Perlis, effective from tomorrow until December 6.

“The measure is taken to aid the government’s efforts to break the chain of Covid-19 infection.

“In accordance with the school academic calendar for 2021 that was previously announced, the school year will begin on January 20, 2021. All primary school students will begin face-to-face learning on that date,” he said today at a press conference here.

Radzi said that students from Form One, Form Four, Five and Form Six, as well as those from vocational colleges, will also begin face-to-face learning on the same date.

As for the Form Two and Form Three students, their school session for next year will also begin on the same date, but with home learning and they will only physically return to school on March 8, he added. -Called
