PETALING JAYA: Operating expense of RM40mil for Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) has been included as one of the items in the 2021 budget, says Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said that DAP MPs who raised the issue could raise any questions they had with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Higher Education in Parliament.

“The ministers will surely give a more satisfactory response than the former finance minister gave last year,” Dr. Wee said in a statement on Sunday (November 8).

He said that DAP had alleged that it was not true that TAR UC had received RM40 thousand in operating expenses in the last Budget, on the grounds that it was not in black and white in the Budget.

Dr. Wee said that in the 2019 Budget, TAR UC received a development allocation of RM5.5 thousand, while in the 2020 Budget, it received a development allocation of RM1 thousand.

“Where is the allocation of RM40mil as claimed by Pakatan Harapan?” Dr. Wee said.

He said that during Tanjung Piai’s by-elections another RM30 thousand of the alleged RM40 thousand allocation for TAR UC by former Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng was announced, while another RM10 thousand was announced after Pakatan Harapan lost in the by-elections.

“So since when did this allocation of RM40 thousand appear in the budget in black and white?” Dr. Wee said.
