Pre-orders for the iPhone 12 are finally open in Malaysia and Digi offers all 4 models in its PhoneFreedom 365 payment program. If you are an existing Digi customer who is eligible, you can secure your new iPhone with a down payment of RM0 and the The program also provides free protection plus the option to switch phones after 18 months with no additional penalty charges.
As usual, the PhoneFreedom 365 installment program is tied to a 24-month contract with Digi’s postpaid plans. For iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12, you get a total of 4 plan options including Postpaid 80 with GBoost (RM90 / month), Postpaid 120, 160 and 190. However, for the iPhone 12 Pro series it is only offered with Postpaid 120 and above.
During the pre-order campaign, Digi offers additional discounts on your monthly phone bill if you join an eligible plan. On Digi Postpaid 120, they offer RM360 discount (RM15 x 24 months), while on Postpaid 160, you will get savings of RM480 (RM20 x 24 months). On the highest postpaid 190 option, Digi offers a discount of RM 600 (RM 25 x 24 months).

Crazy upfront payment for new users
As highlighted several times before, Digi’s PhoneFreedom 365 program is best suited for existing Digi customers with a good payment history. If you are new to Digi, you will have to shell out a hefty upfront payment which is almost as much as buying the iPhone without a contract.
As shown above, the iPhone 12 mini 64GB costs RM3,399 and Digi demands RM2,928 during registration. Meanwhile, the iPhone 12 Pro Max 512GB that sells for RM6,699 would require an upfront payment of RM5,878.
It would make more sense if Digi had offered customers an EPP option to pay the combined postpaid and device price for 24 months at 0% interest. Unfortunately, there is no standard contract option that could have lowered the barrier to entry for new clients.
Combo iPhone 12 + Apple Watch 6
