Watch Lionel Messi walk as Dynamo Kiev push for the late draw as fans shout that ‘Cristiano Ronaldo would NEVER do that’

BARCELONA star Lionel Messi has been criticized by some soccer fans on social media for WALKING back when Dynamo Kiev pushed for a late draw.

The 33-year-old did score from the penalty spot when his team slipped into a 2-1 win against a team that had been hit by coronavirus withdrawals.

But a clip was posted on Twitter showing the six-time Ballon d’Or winner spinning as the Ukrainians pressed for a dramatic draw.

It could have been ten seconds before the full-time whistle, but many soccer fans were still unhappy as Messi made no effort to try to quell an attack.

And, unsurprisingly, comparisons were made with his great rivals Cristiano Ronaldo.

One fan wrote: “This is the difference between Ronaldo and Messi, the mentality.”

An Arsenal fan posted: “Ronaldo would never do that.”

Jason Coward was damning in his assessment of what he saw, writing: “This is pathetic.

“I am for the best player to save time and energy, and not run like a headless chicken.

“But this is absurd, now he’s talking shit.”

José Rodríguez wrote that Messi should ‘sit on the bench’ for the rest of the season.

But others wanted to emphasize that the clip should not be taken out of context.

A Messi fan posted: “There were 10 seconds to go to the end of the game.

“Messi has played 10 90-minute games in the last 5 weeks, including 2 tough in South America.”

And a Manchester United fan posted: “They’re 2-1 up with seconds left, shouldn’t he be heartbroken to come back?”

SunSport previously revealed how Messi also has no interest in the ball during the opening moments of games.

That’s because he used the time to study the opposition to see where it could explode.

The simple sight of Messi with the Barcelona shirt is something shocking.

The club was rocked to the core this summer when their star man demanded a transfer, upset about things on and off the pitch.

After talks between the player, his father and agent Jorge and the Spanish giants, Messi decided to stay one more season, when his contract will end.

Manchester City has become the favorite to sign the Argentine and would see a link with his former Barça manager, Pep Guardiola.

Earlier this week, the club’s president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, was forced to resign after a vote of no-confidence after a tumultuous summer.
