After being on trial for so long, WhatsApp is finally implementing the Disappearing messages to more users around the world. However, it is being done quite quietly, so you may not notice its appearance within your device.

Generally, what disappearing messages do is that you can now choose to have a message automatically disappear seven days after receiving it. In addition to individual messages, the feature is also available for group chat, although the option can only be activated by the group administrator.
The Disappearing Messages feature is available on all the platforms WhatsApp currently supports, including Android, iPhone, Web, Windows, macOS, and even KaiOS. However, regardless of the platforms, the general method for activating the feature is quite similar.
All you need to do is open the chat, tap on the contact’s name, choose the Disappearing messages option, and turn it on or off as desired. For the group chat manager, open your group, tap on its name and you should see the same option.
In the meantime, there are a couple of things to keep in mind regarding the new Disappearing Messages feature. First, this is not a universal feature, which means that you have to activate it with each of your contacts individually. Also, the media that comes with the messages will remain inside your device even if the message has disappeared unless you disable the Automatic Download option within WhatsApp.
Not only that, there are also various scenarios where the message will keep popping up even after seven days. These include whether the message has been forwarded to a chat with Missing Messages turned off, as well as whether the message is part of a quoted reply.
