SENATOR Ras Adiba Radzi is anxiously waiting to find out if she and her family have Covid-19 after her younger sister tested positive for the virus after a routine screening test in Parliament last week.

“My family members and I are eager to hear the test results, which are expected to come out later today (yesterday),” he said.

He said his sister, Ras Afiona Radzi, who is also his special assistant, had gone with two other officers to a screening on October 28 before the start of the third Dewan Rakyat meeting.

“Her results came back and my sister was positive while my two officers were negative.

“She was admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment on October 30,” she said when contacted yesterday.

After this, Ras Adiba said that she and her family members underwent an examination at Klinik Kesihatan Titiwangsa.

The veteran newscaster and national Paralympic athlete was appointed to the Dewan Negara in May to represent the disability community.

Earlier in the Dewan Rakyat, the Minister of the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan, made the motion under Standing Order 12 (1) to shorten the session of Parliament yesterday at 1 pm.

Last month, Dewan Rakyat’s secretariat notified the 222 MPs that they had to undergo the Covid-19 screening on October 30 before the start of Parliament on November 2.

Administrative and security staff on duty in Parliament were also examined.

Sabah lawmakers were required to observe a 14-day self-quarantine period before the third meeting of the Dewan Rakyat, which will last 27 days between November 2 and December 10.

The 2021 budget is scheduled to be presented this Friday.
