KUALA LUMPUR: Amanah Vice President Mujahid Yusof Rawa said today that he is under investigation under the Sedition Law for questioning Muhyiddin Yassin’s appointment as the eighth prime minister in March.

Mujahid said he is also being investigated under the Penal Code and the Communications and Multimedia Law. He did not elaborate. However, the relevant sections of the two laws relate to making statements of public mischief and sharing offensive material on the Internet.

Mujahid questioned why the investigation was being carried out months after he commented in March.

“I made the statement in March after the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government and after Muhyiddin was appointed prime minister.

“I don’t know why the police took so long to investigate the matter,” he said when he met outside Bukit Aman, where he was. disputed for more than an hour.

Mujahid, who is a MP for Parit Buntar, also wondered why the Sedition Law was being used.

Earlier today, CID Deputy Director Mior Faridalathrash Wahid confirmed the investigation by Classified Criminal Investigation Unit D5 after receiving a report from Bukit Aman on an “old issue”.

In March, a police report was filed against Mujahid and his fellow Amanah MP, Khalid Abdul Samad, for a statement that was seen as questioning the king’s decision to appoint Muhyiddin as prime minister.
