SIBU: The death of Kons Nicolester Dadup Unggat is a severe blow to his grandfather Salang Kaya, as the former soldier’s two adopted sons also died in accidents.

Salang had lost a son in 2006 in an accident at the logging camp in Kapit where he worked as a mechanic and later lost another son, a soldier, due to an injury caused by an accident in Batang Kali, Selangor in 2016.

“It is very difficult for me to accept this,” he told reporters on Monday (November 2) at his home while waiting for Kuching’s body to arrive.

Salang, 76, had adopted and raised Kons Nicolester since he was born.

“His mother had initially kept the news from me, but eventually she gave it to me and her grandmother. What can I do now that he is gone? And like the other two, they left before me,” he added.

Kons Nicolester’s mother, Elizabeth Salang, 42, said she received news of his death around 8 a.m. Monday (November 2) from her superior.

“I was shocked and couldn’t continue the conversation,” he said.

Elizabeth said the deceased had planned to return from vacation later this year.

“Three days ago, he sent a photo of himself wearing his traffic police uniform.

“He told me he wanted to take a picture of him wearing the uniform with us when he got back,” he added.

Kons Nicolester’s partner, L / Kpl Mohammad Fadhirul Musa, 32, suffered a serious head injury after his patrol capsized while chasing a Perodua Myvi along Jalan Kangkar Tebrau – Jalan Tun Teja in Johor el Sunday (November 1).

The incident occurred around 5 a.m. after the duo spotted a gray car with two men inside.

The minivan police officers ordered the driver to stop, but he was ignored. Both cars collided, causing the police officers to collide with another car coming from the opposite direction.

Both the male driver and a passenger in the van suffered injuries as the suspects managed to escape.

Meanwhile, Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said that the deceased would be buried Thursday (November 5) morning at Nirvana Memorial Park here.

ACP Stanley and his wife Monica Wilson later presented a personal donation to Salang.
