Proton has wasted no time in publishing its October 2020 sales figures; Today is the first business day since October ended and we now have the press release.

Proton announced that it sold 11,392 units in the first 10 months of the year, and sales for the year to date are 84,999 units, this is 6.2% more than between January and October 2019. With this, they are estimating a market share of 21.3%. .

With the launch of the Proton X50 at the end of the month (October 27), the new SUV couldn’t contribute much to the overall tally. However, Proton still managed to deliver 447 units. They say “in the hands of the customer”, but perhaps the first units would go to dealerships to serve as demonstration units. But it’s only a matter of time, and this month will be the first full month of sales for the anticipated new model.

“Proton would like to thank all of its customers for the tremendous interest shown in the Proton X50. We are pushing to ensure compliance during the last three months of 2020, while continuing to emphasize product quality, ”said Roslan Abdullah, CEO of Proton Edar.

Proton says its order book for the X50 has 27,400 names as of the end of October. The X50 is priced at 79,200 RM for 1.5T Standard base, 84,800 RM for the Executive, 93,200 RM for the Premium and 103,300 RM for the flagship 1.5 TGDi. East Malaysian prices are RM2,000 higher across the board. These prices are on the road without insurance, including the maximum exemption from sales tax valid until December 31.
