SHAH ALAM (Bernama): The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has reminded local authorities and state police to be more strict in monitoring compliance with the conditional movement control order (MCO).

The Alam Shah Palace said His Royal Highness was disappointed that many parties, especially the operators of entertainment and food venues, were not yet serious or that they were negligent and did not comply with the conditional MCO.

The Palace said that Sultan Sharafuddin was also concerned that if the public remained stubborn by failing to comply with the MCO’s conditional standard operating procedures (SOPs), the spread of Covid-19 would be difficult to overcome.

On Sunday (November 1), Selangor registered a high number of new cases, 225.

In a statement on Monday (November 2), the Palace also said that Sultan Sharafuddin congratulated the head of the Department of Infectious Diseases at Sungai Buloh Hospital, Dr. C. Suresh Kumar, and the head of the Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care, Dr. Shaiful Azman Zakaria, for being recognized with the 2020 Global Heath Award, recently.

“His Royal Highness is proud of the excellent achievements of the leaders at Sungai Buloh Hospital in particular and also in Selangor in general for showing a high level of dedication and commitment in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

“His Royal Highness hopes that leaders will continue to be patient and strong in the performance of their duties in treating Covid-19 patients,” the Palace said. – Bernama
