Covid-19: 5 Active Clusters Still Active in Sarawak, Says SDMC

KUCHING (Nov 1): There are currently five active Covid-19 groups in Sarawak, namely the Putra group in Bintulu and the remaining Baki group, the Greenhill group, the Bah Arnab group and the Seladah group in Kuching.

The State Disaster Management Committee stated that a total of 2,943 individuals were tested for Baki Cluster, 30 tested positive, 1,853 tested negative, and 1,060 are still pending laboratory results.

“Since November 1 at 12 pm, five Baki Cluster patients have recovered and discharged from hospitals, while another 25 patients are still being treated in the hospital’s isolation ward. Its conditions are stable. No deaths have been reported for the group, ”he said in a statement.

It noted that 1,998 people were tested during the active contact tracing carried out in Kampung Haji Baki under the Enhanced Motion Control Order until October 31.

As for the Greenhill Cluster, he said that the 47 patients who tested positive in the group were still receiving treatments and were in stable condition. A total of 320 individuals were evaluated for the group, with 47 positive results, 189 negative and 84 still pending results.

No new Covid-19 cases were reported for Bah Arnab Cluster, Putra Cluster, and Seladah Cluster, and positive cases remained at 12, 5, and 7 respectively.

In addition, the committee stated that five people had recovered and released from Sarawak General Hospital today, representing 84.42 percent or 753 people of the total cases in the state who have recovered.

“So far, 98 cases are being treated at Sarawak General Hospital, 17 at Miri Hospital, three at Bintulu Hospital and two at Sibu Hospital,” he said.

The death toll from the virus in the state remained at 19 or 2.13 percent of all cases and currently no patient is being treated in the intensive care unit at this time.

“Today, 13 new cases of people under investigation have been reported and three of the people are still awaiting laboratory results.”

The committee emphasized that Kuching remained a red zone with 87 cases transmitted locally over the past 14 days, while Lundu, Miri and Limbang remained a yellow zone. The 36 remaining districts of the state were still in the green zone for Covid-19.

In addition, he added that the police had issued 26 precincts in Kuching, Padawan, Lawas and Miri and that today the Ministry of Local Government and Housing across the state issued a further 132 written and oral warnings, as well as seizure notices.

Yesterday seven barricades were installed in six districts and two in Lawas, one in Lundu, Bau, Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu.

“A total of 175 new people under surveillance had registered to be quarantined in hotels today, bringing the total number of people in quarantine at 24 hotels statewide to 2,361,” the committee stated.
