KUALA LUMPUR: The number of national security personnel is still sufficient to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic, although some of them are positive due to the virus infection and must be quarantined.

Chief Minister (Security Group) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix) He said his ministry was also prepared for any possibility and had a plan of action to overcome it.

He said the plan included the mobilization of personnel from other areas to help areas affected by members who were detected as positive for Covid-19 or placed in quarantine.

Until now, we can still ‘mobilize’ personnel from other areas to help affected areas when their members are infected.

“We still have enough personnel, people do not have to worry even though there are cases, we are still ready and in a position to add personnel and also to replace those involved,” he said at a press conference on the development of the Recovery Movement. Control order, (RMCO) here today.

On October 27, it was reported that Interior Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said that more than 10,000 officers and policemen were quarantined while at least 200 others were being treated after they were confirmed to be positive for the infection. by Covid-19.

Hamzah said that the high infection rate among members of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) had hampered PDRM’s ability and strength in maintaining national security and peace.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said that food assistance would only be provided to areas declared under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) and not under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

He said this was because the area declared as CMCO was still able to conduct business as usual.

“This includes the island of Omadal, Sabah, which is declared a CMCO area where residents of the area can still carry out economic activities.

“Besides that, the island of Omadal is not among the six EMCO locations and that is why the government does not send any food aid,” he said.

Ismail Sabri said that if the residents of the island of Omadal needed food assistance, the matter would be referred to the Sabah Disaster Management Committee.

He said so when asked to comment on allegations that Omadal Island residents did not receive assistance from the National Security Council. -Called
