Frank Lampard has suggested that Antonio Rudiger will see more playing time after impressing in Chelsea’s Champions League win over Krasnodar.

Rudiger made his first appearance of the season on the Blues’ 4-0 victory in Russia, playing the full 90 minutes at the heart of the Chelsea defense.

He helped his team maintain a third straight clean sheet in all competitions after struggling at the rear earlier this period.

And speaking after the game, Lampard revealed that he liked what he saw of the defender and never had reservations about playing him.

As quoted by Football.London, Lampard said: “I am very satisfied with the performance of Rudiger and Kurt Zouma today. They can take credit for a clean sheet among other players.

“I had no doubts about Toni. His training and professionalism has been very clear from the beginning since I have been here and certainly in the last few weeks. He was very satisfied with his concentration levels and also with Mendy. Concentration levels to have the desire to keep a clean sheet. “

Lampard also suggested that there will be more opportunities for him to play as Chelsea’s busy schedule progresses.

“Looking ahead, we need more than two plants,” he added.

“We have Thiago Silva at home and we have [Fikayo] Tomori and [Andreas] Christensen on the squad. It’s not easy to keep five center-backs happy, but we need the levels of competition we saw on the field today to keep moving forward.

Ziyech impresses in his full debut

The Blues boss was also full of praise for Hakim Ziyech, which marked his full Chelsea debut with one goal.

The former Ajax player scored the third goal of the night as the London club pulled away from their rival at the end.

Reflecting on his display, Lampard said: “I think his performance was very, very good when you consider that he hasn’t started a game since March when the Dutch league ended.

“I have been very excited to have him on the field, so it has been a frustration for me and for him and for us that his injury has not allowed him to start.

“But what I have seen in training so far and what I knew we were signing as a player was a player with an immense quality and personality to receive the ball, assists and find goals.

“We saw a lot of glimpses of that today. We brought him in to do a job and maybe people forgot a bit because we signed him in January and he missed the start of the season. Tonight, he certainly proved he’s here. “
