Covid-19: 4 groups currently active in Sarawak, including Baki Cluster with 25 cases

KUCHING (Oct 27): There are currently four active Covid-19 infection clusters in Sarawak, with the Baki cluster in Kuching being the largest with 25 positive cases detected in that cluster so far.

During a press conference on Covid-19 updates today, Senior Deputy Minister and Chairman of the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, revealed that a total of 949 people were tested in the Baki group.

“With 12 new cases registered on Tuesday, a total of 25 cases were detected with Covid-19 from the Baki Cluster, while 823 individuals tested negative and 101 individuals are still awaiting the results,” he said.

As of 12 p.m. on October 27, all the cases involved in this group are still receiving treatment in the hospital’s isolation ward and are currently in stable condition. No deaths related to this group were reported.

Regarding the Seladah Group in Kuching, Uggah said that no new cases related to this group were detected, as the number of positive cases remains unchanged at seven, including the index case.

“A total of 18 people were evaluated, in which seven tested positive, five negative and six are still awaiting the results.

“As of 12 pm on October 27, all the cases involved in this group are still receiving treatment in the hospital isolation room and are in stable condition. No deaths related to this group were reported, ”he said.

No new cases of the Bah Arnab Cluster have been detected in Kuching either, Uggah reported.

“The number of positive cases involving this group is still a total of twelve people, including the index case.

“A total of 72 people were examined, where four cases were detected during the first evaluation and eight cases were detected by repeat examinations on the 10th day of quarantine,” he said.

A total of 60 people tested negative, including 28 people who had undergone a second evaluation on the 10th day.

At 12 p.m. on October 27, eight cases are still receiving treatment in the hospital’s isolation room and are in stable condition. No deaths related to this group were reported.

The Putra Cluster in Bintulu also saw no new cases, and the total number of positive cases remained at five, including the index case.

Uggah explained that a total of 190 people were evaluated, of which five were positive and 185 negative.

“Of the 185 that were negative in the first screening test, a total of 80 people or 43.24 percent were tested a second time on day 10, where all 80 were negative for the Covid-19 rT-PCR test. .

“At 12 pm on October 27, all the cases in this group have recovered and were discharged from the hospital,” he said.

One case, which was registered in Selangor, was removed from the group on instructions from the Ministry of Health after it was discovered that it had a different source of infection.
