Reflexology centers and entertainment venues are difficult to monitor for SOP compliance, says Douglas Uggah Embas.

KUCHING: The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee announced today that all reflexology centers and entertainment venues in the state will be closed indefinitely, starting tomorrow.

Committee chair Douglas Uggah Embas said the decision was made after considering the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in the state, adding that it was difficult to monitor and ensure that such facilities adhered to SOPs.

“We have decided to shut down all reflexology and entertainment media until further notice in order to effectively curb the spread of Covid-19,” he told a press conference today.

He also said that Kuching had been categorized as a red zone after 49 cases of Covid-19 were reported in the past 14 days.

“Today a total of 16 cases were reported in the state, with 12 cases related to the Baki group and another four cases of local transmission. The confirmed cases related to the cluster are between seven and 75 years old, including three primary school students and two secondary school students.

“Therefore, we have decided that Kampung Haji Baki will be put under lockdown, starting tomorrow at 6 pm until November 10,” he said.

To date, Sarawak has reported a total of 819 cases, including 19 deaths.
