Dr. Mahathir Mohamad says that the government should not block the registration of new political parties like Pejuang.

PETALING JAYA: Former Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad wants the government to heed the king’s advice to stop politicking and not use his position to infringe on the rights of the opposition.

In a statement, the Langkawi MP said that not only opposition MPs should be complying with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah’s message so that the country can better manage the third wave of Covid-19. pandemic.

“The government must also stop firing politicians who do not support the government, suspend allocations for opposition MPs, stop practicing monetary policy, force early polls and prevent the registration of new political parties,” Mahathir said today in a statement, alluding to his, but not yet registered, Pejuang, of which he is president.

He added that Pejuang will follow the king’s advice to ensure political stability and help combat the outbreak, which has infected more than 27,000 people to date.

The King yesterday spoke out against the government’s request to declare an emergency, saying there is no need for one anywhere in the country.

He also considered that the government has been successful in handling the pandemic.

In a statement, the Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said the King also felt there was no need for MPs to continue irresponsible actions that could affect the stability of the government.

The King emphasized the 2021 Budget and said it was important in efforts to control the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
