The economy has been severely affected by the lockdown and other measures taken due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

KUALA LUMPUR: Temporary measures to reduce the impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) Law 2020 will be published tomorrow, said Minister of the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Takiyuddin Hassan.

He said that the law, which was approved by Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara on August 25 and September 22, respectively, will be published after receiving the royal consent of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah in accordance with Article 66. of the Federal Constitution.

The law will be in effect for two years from October 23.

“The full implementation will benefit all people and companies economically affected as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said today in a statement.

Meanwhile, Takiyuddin said that any party with contract disputes can seek resolution without involving court proceedings through the intermediary services of the Covid-19 mediation center (PMC-19), established under the Prime Minister’s Department.

He said that the mediation service conducted by PMC-19 was open to all people with disputes valued at RM300,000 or less.

“The government will bear the costs of the mediation service for categories B40 and M40, as well as for micro and small industries,” he said, adding that any inquiry about the service can be made by email to [email protected]
