PETALING JAYA: Chief Security Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that Malaysian employees in red zones are not required to be tested for covid-19.
Only foreign workers in the construction sector and those employed as security guards should be tested for Covid-19, it added.
However, he said, the government strongly recommended that Malaysian workers in red zones also undergo tests as they could endanger others.
“For example, if they live in red zones but work in yellow zones, they would endanger the workers there,” he said today during a press conference.
Meanwhile, on the work-from-home rule for states under the conditional movement control order (CMCO), which goes into effect tomorrow, he said those classified as informal workers were allowed to operate as usual, but must continue SOPs set by the government. .
They include small-time merchants, street vendors, restaurant workers, and convenience store personnel.
Transportation service workers, such as public transportation, express buses, LRTs, taxis, e-hailing, and food delivery service providers, can also operate as usual.
On the enforcement action yesterday, Ismail said that the police arrested 434 people who disobeyed the rules under the recovery motion control order (RMCO).
He said 400 people were fined, 24 in pre-trial detention and 10 released on bail.
A total of 188 people were arrested for not wearing face masks, 77 for disobeying the rules of physical distancing and 83 for not writing down the personal data of customers.
