COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 862 new cases of Covid-19 at noon today with three more deaths reported.

Leading indicators in brief:

  • Active cases = 7,681 ↑ (15th consecutive day a new record is set)
  • Patients in intensive care = 95 ↓ (4 less than the previous day)
  • Intubated patients = 29 ↓ (3 less than the previous day)

The three new deaths involved patients in Sabah, bringing the total number of deaths attributed to Covid-19 to 193.

Over the past 30 days, the total death toll from Covid-19 for Sabah alone was 58 versus five reported in other states.

The details of the three new victims, all with a history of illness, are as follows:

  • ‘Patient 13,509’, a 78-year-old Malaysian male, passed away at Tawau Hospital.
  • ‘Patient 14,987’, a 59-year-old Malaysian woman, passed away at Tawau Hospital.
  • ‘Patient 22.036’, Malay woman, 90 years old, passed away at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kota Kinabalu.

From the patient’s case numbers, it is likely that patients 13,509 and 14,987 were admitted to the hospital earlier this month, while patient 22,036 was just a confirmed case of Covid-19 as of noon today.

Of the 862 new cases, only two concerned import cases. New cases attributed to recent trips to Sabah remained in the low single digits (four).

Sabah continued to lead the count of new cases (673), but the number of cases in the Klang Valley Territories – Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya (139 new cases in total) – has increased compared to yesterday.
