Covid-19: No new cases were recorded in Sarawak today, 2 groups remain active

KUCHING (Oct 19): Sarawak recorded no new Covid-19 cases today, keeping the total number of positive cases in the state at 768, said Senior Deputy Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

At a press conference on the Covid-19 updates, Uggah, who is the chairman of the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), said that there were no new groups of infections, but that the two previous groups, namely Bah Arnab Cluster and Putra Cluster in Bintulu, remained active.

The Bah Arnab Cluster did not register new cases, keeping the number of positive cases at 12, including the index case.

“As of 12 pm on Monday, a total of 40 people have been examined and 12 have been found positive, of which eight cases were detected by a second test on the tenth day. 28 were negative, ”he said.

As for the Putra Group, Uggah said that no new cases were recorded, and that the number of positive cases remained at six, including the index case. A case has been detected and registered in Selangor.

“As of 12pm on Monday, a total of 190 people had been tested, of which six tested positive and 183 individuals tested negative.

“A total of 79 individuals were tested a second time (day 10), where all 79 were negative,” he said.

Meanwhile, Uggah said that today there were two cases of recovery and discharge from Miri and Sibu.

“As of today, 703 or 91.54 percent of the total cases have been recovered and discharged.

“A total of 46 cases continue to be treated in the isolation rooms of the hospitals. Of that, 32 cases are being treated at SGH, seven cases at Miri Hospital and seven at Bintulu Hospital ”, he said.

He added that there were no cases under treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

As for Person Under Investigation (PUI), eight new cases were registered, and two of them are still awaiting laboratory results.

This brings the cumulative total of PUI to 9,899 to date.

As for the person under surveillance (PUS), 131 people checked into hotels for their mandatory quarantine today. This brings the total PUS to 1,699 people at 23 hotels across the state.

To date, those who have completed their quarantine period number 26,867.

With no reported deaths, the death toll in the state stands at 19 or 2.47 percent of all cases.
