Proton confirms 49 employees at Shah Alam tested positive for Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Proton Holdings Bhd has confirmed that 49 of its employees tested positive for Covid-19, after one of its workers tested positive on October 14.

In a statement on Monday (October 19), it said that the 49 employees are from its engineering division in Shah Alam, Selangor.

“For now, the company has requested all non-essential personnel of the affected facility to work from home as a precautionary measure.

“The company has adhered to official protocols and continues its efforts with stricter actions to prevent further spread,” he said.

Proton said contact tracing is ongoing, adding that it has established a Covid-19 team to monitor the situation.

The company said it will continue to strictly adhere to health and safety guidelines.

In addition, he said that the Proton Center of Service Excellence and Showroom in Shah Alam are disinfected hourly and that all customer support staff follow a rigorous procedure.

“Proton is working with the authorities and is satisfied with the actions taken so far.

“The safety of all Proton staff, customers and Malaysians is of utmost importance to the company and will be its top priority,” he added. – Bernama
