PUTRAJAYA: Malaysians working in Singapore are not prevented from returning, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said that under the recovery motion control (MCO) order, there are some categories of applications for the purpose of entering and leaving the country.

“We have received requests from Malaysians who want to go home because they miss their families. It’s not that we won’t let them go back.

“We have announced that our citizens who are in Singapore can return at any time by land or air and can apply through the Department of Immigration’s MyTravelPass,” the Defense Minister said on Monday (October 19).

He said that for those who plan to return without using the periodic transportation agreement (PCA) with Singapore, they can enter through the Sultan Iskandar and Sultan Abu Bakar customs, immigration and quarantine complexes, be screened for Covid-19 and undergo to quarantine for 14 days. .

He said the information can be obtained from the Department of Immigration and on the websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The PCA is an initiative that allows 2,000 residents of both countries with long-term work permits to cross the Calzada and the Second Link per day.

In addition to the PCA, the reciprocal green lane has also been introduced allowing 400 Malaysians and Singaporeans to travel to and from the two countries each week for official travel and business matters.
