The iPhone 12 series battery capacity reportedly maxes out at 3687 mAh

Unlike Android makers, Apple does not publicly disclose the exact battery capacity inside its iPhones. Instead, the company only listed battery life in the form of operating hours.

The information is not something that you can easily find within the iOS settings. So if you are hell-bent on finding the exact battery capacity, you should open up your iPhone and look directly at the battery cell label based on what you can see in the iFixit teardown guides.

But sometimes, there are other parts that list the information. In the latest example, Vodafone Netherlands has revealed the battery capacity for the four devices within the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Series directly on their website:

If these figures are true, it means that the battery capacities of the new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Series are much lower than their predecessor. As a comparison, the iPhone 11 Pro Max carried a 3969 mAh battery, while the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 were equipped with a 3046 mAh and 3110 mAh battery, respectively.

If the information on battery capacity is true, it’s quite interesting how the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Series managed to match or come very close to the battery life of their predecessors. For example, battery life figures on Apple’s website indicated that both the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 11 Pro Max have a similar battery life of up to 20 hours for video playback.

As for other models, the battery life of the iPhone 12 Pro is 17 hours compared to the 18 hours of the iPhone 11 Pro, but the iPhone 12 and iPhone 11 have a similar video playback rating of 17 hours. . On the other hand, the iPhone 12 mini appears in 15 hours, which is slightly shorter than the iPhone XR but two hours longer than the second-generation iPhone SE.

Apple has been touting the energy efficiency of its new 5nm A14 Bionic chip, which could be one of the top recent reasons why the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Series still have roughly the same battery life as their predecessors. However, let’s see how all of those numbers will hold up in real life when the new phones become available to consumers later this month.
