KUALA LUMPUR: A 36-year-old Nigerian was killed due to a love triangle involving a Malaysian woman, says Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Comm Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin.

He said the man was found dead in a condominium unit in Jalan Kuching on September 23 with injuries to his neck, face and arms.

“After two weeks, we managed to arrest the main suspect in front of the Nigerian embassy.

“The 34-year-old man was the victim’s housemate and was trying to seek protection at the embassy,” he said at a news conference at Sentul police headquarters on Monday (October 19).

Comm Saiful thanked the Nigerian Embassy for their help in catching the suspect.

He added that another Nigerian man and a Malaysian woman were also detained to assist in the investigation.

“We believe that the motive for the murder was a misunderstanding involving the Malaysian woman, and we believe that the suspect and the victim were attracted to the woman,” Comm Saiful said.

He said the main suspect was charged on October 13, while two others were released on witness bail.
