(Oct 17): East China’s Yiwu City in Zhejiang Province is offering walk-in Covid-19 vaccines to residents, local media reported.
The vaccine was administered Friday at a city health services center, according to The Paper website. Residents are charged 400 yuan ($ 60) for two injections of the treatment, with an additional service fee of 28 yuan, he said.
Most Chinese local governments only approve vaccines for emergencies or for people who have approval, including medical workers, customs personnel, diplomats, and employees of state-owned companies who need to work abroad. Vaccines for members of the public who are not considered essential workers or have emergency approval are a first.
The vaccine was developed by the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech and has not been fully tested or officially approved for marketing, according to Global times. The center told the Shanghai Law Review that people only need to queue at the facility to get vaccinated and due to the limited supply, it is offered on a first come, first serve basis.
