PETALING JAYA: Enforcement officers will step up controls to ensure compliance with Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs), as many still do not wear face masks in crowded public spaces, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“Of the 460 compounds released on October 16 (Friday), not wearing masks continues to lead crimes with 182 aggravated people.

“I hope the rakyat complies as wearing a mask in a crowded public space is the most basic SOP,” the Chief Minister said at his Covid-19 briefing on Saturday (October 17).

He also said that there were a large number of people who did not adhere to physical distancing, not to mention the facilities that did not provide facilities to record customer details.

“A total of 106 people were aggravated for not complying with physical distancing.

“110 compounds were released to those who did not provide registration details.

“I think this included facilities that did not provide recording facilities, but there were also people who did not enter their details when entering the facilities,” he said.

He said 64 compounds were issued for other matters, including five for companies that were found to be operating above the allotted time.

He added that law enforcement officers would not compromise or take action against anyone who violates the Covid-19 SOPs.

At Ops Benteng, Ismal said 265 roadblocks were put in place during the operations, in which 58 illegal immigrants were detained, including the seizure of two ships and two vehicles in operations.
