Proton employee tests positive for Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 15): An employee at Proton Holdings Bhd tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday.

In a statement today, Proton said the employee is from the research and development department at its Shah Alam headquarters and was not customer-facing.

After testing positive, the employee was immediately placed in the care of a government facility, the company said.

“The company, which has strictly adhered to the protocols issued by the authorities, immediately put in place its mitigation plans to guarantee the prevention of further spread.

“Contact tracing was started and all employees in the respective departments were asked to stay away from the office and self-quarantine. This is followed by deep cleaning and disinfection of the facilities and suspicious areas, ”he added.

Proton said it will continue to strictly follow all guidelines and procedures established by authorities.

“Proton will continue to monitor the situation closely before deciding any further course of action if necessary. The safety of all Proton staff, customers and Malaysians is of utmost importance to the company and will be its top priority, ”he said.
