Cristiano Ronaldo has tested positive for coronavirus.

The Juventus star was due to play for Portugal tomorrow in the Nations League Group C clash against Sweden.

The 35-year-old has been released by the national team and must now isolate himself.

Portugal’s FPF said, according to the Mirror: “Cristiano Ronaldo was released from the job of the National Team after a positive test for COVID-19, so he will not face Sweden.”

Ronaldo is reported to be in good health with no symptoms. He is the only member of the Portugal team to test positive.

Cristiano Ronaldo in action for Portugal

The news comes just days after Ronaldo appeared in Portugal’s goalless draw with France.

At halftime, the Portuguese superstar was caught laughing and hugging Kylian Mbappé.

Ronaldo is the latest world star to contract the virus.

Juventus teammates Blaise Matuidi, Paulo Dybala and Daniele Rugani tested positive for the virus earlier in the year.

Liverpool duo Thiago Alcantara and Man City Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez have also tested positive in recent months.

It is a relief to know that Ronaldo is not sick and we hope that he returns to doing what he does best as soon as possible.
