Banks ready to help clients in the areas of CMCO, EMCO

KUALA LUMPUR: Banking institutions are ready to assist borrowers / clients in areas that are under a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) or Enhanced MCO (EMCO).

“Borrowers / clients in these areas facing difficulties in making loan / financing repayments should immediately contact their banks for payment assistance,” said the Association of Banks of Malaysia (ABM) and the Association of Banking Institutions and Islamic Finance Companies of Malaysia (AIBIM) in a sentence.

They said that banks are ready to facilitate requests for payment assistance to suit borrowers / clients financial circumstances.

“Borrowers / clients can contact their banks by email or phone if they cannot have face-to-face commitments due to the movement restriction.

“For the safety of bank borrowers / customers and employees, banks in the CMCO areas are operating with increased vigilance and adherence to Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs),” they said.

ABM and AIBIM advised borrowers / clients in affected areas to consult their respective banks’ websites for information on any changes in hours of operation or arrangements for over-the-counter services.

Borrowers / customers can also continue to provide banking services at all self-service terminals, such as automated teller machines (ATMs) and cash deposit machines (CDM) located in the CMCO areas.
