Faster Face ID, improved zoom, and longer battery life

Interest is intensifying ahead of the iPhone 12 launch, with a series of leaks already suggesting we will see four models: an iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Quite disappointingly, we’ve also heard that the iPhone 12 series may not come with a high refresh rate on its display, not even 90Hz.

Max Weinbach just shared “finalized and revised” information, based on more leaked information from Weibo user “Kang”. Essentially, the series’ price could start at USD 699 (~ RM2,893) for the iPhone 12 Mini, with the new LiDAR scanner reserved for the Pro models. This would mean that we would be looking at five “current” iPhone models in total, what would appear to be a change in strategy for the Cupertino-based company.

Also, Weinbach claims that Face ID will be improved on the next iPhones. This is due to a “dynamic zoning algorithm” feature:

Pro models could also include an upgrade for zoom, both optical and digital. The standard iPhone 12 should also have an improved digital zoom, with up to 30x suggested by the leak. The digital zoom has supposedly been improved for quality as well, with an algorithm based on Deep Fusion and Smart HDR 3 responsible for this.

Other possible camera upgrades include a feature similar to a macro camera. You should be able to get 2.2cm closer to an object without losing focus (compared to the iPhone 11 Pro), while the ultra-wide camera should get some improvements for low-light performance as well. Weinback cautions, however, that many of these improvements will be made for the Pro Max, which tops the range. only.

And finally, we’ll see longer battery life for the Pro models, although the Mini might be a bit worse than the current base model – the iPhone 11. That said, the Mini appears to be a whole new segment, so a direct comparison. it could be unfair.

So what do you think? The iPhone 12 is confirmed to be released anytime soon, so if you want to learn more, scroll down to the related reading section for details. And as always, bookmark SoyaCincau.com in your browser for full coverage.
