If you are looking for a different flagship smartphone, Sony Malaysia will offer its Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 Mark II series in the coming months. Ahead of their official local availability, Sony Malaysia has revealed their official retail price for the two new phones on their website.
Below are the official prices for the new Sony Xperia devices in Malaysia:
Xperia 1 II 8GB RAM + 256GB storage – 4999 RM
Xperia 5 II 8GB RAM + 256GB storage – RM4,099
As Sony Malaysia previously mentioned, the Xperia 1 II will be available in November, while the Xperia 5 II will launch a month later, in December 2020. There is no information on its pre-order or first-sale promotion so far and we hope that Sony does add a couple of goodies to sweeten the deal.
Hardware specs
The new Xperia 1 and 5 devices are quite similar in specs as both are powered by a Snapdragon 865. The devices feature a 12MP triple camera setup with ZEISS optics consisting of wide-angle, ultra-wide, and telephoto shooters. The new Xperia flagships also feature Eye AF, 20fps burst mode, and Cinematography Pro powered by CineAlta. Both also have a 4,000 mAh battery that supports USB-PD charging via USB-C, microSD card expansion, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The biggest difference is the display, as the Xperia 1 has a 6.5 ″ 4K HDR OLED display that drives a standard 60Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the smaller Xperia 5 has a 6.1 ″ Full HD + OLED HDR display that has a 120Hz refresh rate. With the Motion Blur reduction feature enabled, Sony claims that you can get a smooth gaming visual experience equivalent to a 240Hz refresh rate on the Xperia 5 II.
As you’d expect from a Sony flagship, both also have IP68 water and dust resistance, stereo speakers, and are compatible with PS4 Remote Play. Please note that only the Xperia 1 comes with wireless charging. For more information, you can check out our ad postings at the links below.
