KUALA LUMPUR: The impending interview of PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim with the police has been delayed to a later date, says Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed.
The Bukit Aman CID director said police had initially called the Port Dickson MP for questioning at 11 a.m. Monday (October 12) in connection with police reports included in the list of MPs who supported him as Prime Minister.
“However, his private secretary informed us that he could only do it at 9 am on Tuesday (October 13).
“Therefore, we have delayed the recording of his statement to a later date to be determined later,” he said in a statement Monday.
Comm Huzir said police are investigating the case related to the dissemination of a list of 121 MPs who allegedly supported Anwar on social media.
“We have received six police reports on the matter, starting with a report submitted by the deputy from Jerantut on October 8.
“We are investigating under Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act of 1998,” he added.
Jerantut’s MP is Datuk Ahmad Nazlan Idris.
Comm Huzir reminded the public not to be alarmed by the spread of news on the list of deputies.
“We urge all parties involved not to spread news that has not been verified.
“We will not hesitate to take action against any party that spreads false news or unverified news that may confuse people,” he added.
