PETALING JAYA: All schools in the Covid-19 red zone in the Petaling district were ordered to close, says the Ministry of Education.

Schools will be closed from Monday (October 12) to October 25, it said in a statement on Sunday (October 11).

“This decision involves 298 schools in the district, including elementary, secondary and private schools registered under the ministry, as well as schools with shelters and professional colleges,” he said.

The ministry urged parents to bring their children from the shelters to return home.

Those who are waiting for their parents, or who wish to remain in school hostels and vocational colleges during the school closing period, will be under the care of the shelter’s guardian, he added.

The ministry also said that affected schools that are currently conducting the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia mock exams may reschedule the exams for a later date.
